Hot Flashes

Hot flashes are one of the most common and distressing symptoms experienced during the menopausal transition. Characterized by sudden sensations of heat, sweating, and flushing—often followed by chills—hot flashes can disrupt sleep, impact mood, and significantly reduce quality of life.

They are believed to result from changes in the body’s thermoregulatory system, influenced by fluctuating levels of estrogen. These episodes often begin with a feeling of warmth in the face, neck, or chest and may last from a few seconds to several minutes. Frequency and intensity vary, with some women experiencing multiple episodes each day.

Conventional treatments include hormone replacement therapy and certain non-hormonal medications. However, many women seek natural and evidence-based alternatives. Clinical hypnosis, in particular, has shown strong promise. In randomized controlled trials, hypnotic relaxation therapy has been found to significantly reduce both the frequency and severity of hot flashes—often by more than 70%.

Hypnosis works by helping the body regulate autonomic responses and fostering a state of mind-body harmony. With regular practice, women can gain better control over their physiological responses, reduce distress, and improve sleep and overall well-being.

Hot flashes are manageable—and with the right tools, relief is possible without medication.
